Marland Mansion

Photobucket

The Marland Estate Mansion is in Ponca City, Oklahoma and is a national historical landmark. E.W. Marland was a very wealthy oilman, who wanted to live lavishly and entertain in style. Marland modeled his dream home after Davanzati Palace in Florence, Italy. Breathtakingly beautiful, this mansion denotes incredible attention to detail with carved wood, sculptured stone, wrought iron arched doorways, and hand-painted and gold-leaf ceilings. Master architect John Duncan Forsyth, along with artists, decorators, and sculptors of international reputation combined their talents to create this "Palace on the Prairie".
