Blog assignment #6

This is furniture designed by architects, but for some reason my pictures would not upload so there is a url link for each of my pictures so hopefully the links work! :)

My first piece of furniture is called the tulip chair by architect Eero Saarinen in 1946. It is so famous, it is perhaps as well known as the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Saarinen was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was a Finnish American architect and product designer in the 20th century.

My second piece of furniture is called the Paimio armchair by Alvar Aalto, in 1931. 
Aalto's intriguing arm chair can be found in numerous museums including the Museum of Modern Art.

My third piece of furniture is by Marcel Breuer called the Wassily chair. It was made in 1926 and was the first bent-chrome chair the world had ever seen!

My fourth and final piece of furniture is by architects Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusierby designed in the 1930s.

Entryways

La Giralda Cathedral 
La Giralda Cathedral was built in Seville consists of roman, arab, and christian architecture. 
The cathedral took 12 years to build (1184-96) and was the culmination of Almohad architecture. It is considered the finest of the three great Almohad minaret.

The Jefferson Memorial
The Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C., that is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson. The neoclassical building was designed by John Russel Pope. It was built by Philadelphia contractor John McShain and was completed during 1939-2943.

The Taj Mahal
Located in Agra, India and is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. It was completed around 1648. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer of the Taj Mahal.
